Prawn curry is a delicious and flavourful dish that is popular in many parts of the world, particularly in India and Southeast Asia. It’s a perfect blend of spices and herbs that give it a unique and tantalizing taste. Here’s a recipe for making prawn curry that you can try at home.

Ingredients:

  • 500g Prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 Onions, finely chopped
  • 2 Tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 Green chilies, slit
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1/2 cup Coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves, chopped for garnishing

Instructions:

  1. In a pan, dry roast the cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds and mustard seeds until fragrant. Let them cool and grind them to a fine powder.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Saute until they turn translucent.
  3. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes, green chillies, and cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  5. Add the ground spice powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well.
  6. Add the cleaned prawns and stir until they are coated with the spice mix.
  7. Add salt to taste and cook for 5-6 minutes until the prawns are cooked.
  8. Finally, add coconut milk and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
