Prawn curry is a delicious and flavourful dish that is popular in many parts of the world, particularly in India and Southeast Asia. It’s a perfect blend of spices and herbs that give it a unique and tantalizing taste. Here’s a recipe for making prawn curry that you can try at home.
Ingredients:
- 500g Prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 Onions, finely chopped
- 2 Tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 Green chilies, slit
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Coriander seeds
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1 tsp Garam masala powder
- 1/2 cup Coconut milk
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves, chopped for garnishing
Instructions:
- In a pan, dry roast the cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds and mustard seeds until fragrant. Let them cool and grind them to a fine powder.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Saute until they turn translucent.
- Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, green chillies, and cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
- Add the ground spice powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well.
- Add the cleaned prawns and stir until they are coated with the spice mix.
- Add salt to taste and cook for 5-6 minutes until the prawns are cooked.
- Finally, add coconut milk and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
