KOBI CHINGUDI MASALA

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 1 small cabbage, shredded
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add onions, garlic, and ginger to the pan and sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes to the pan and sauté for a few minutes until they turn soft and mushy.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it wilts down slightly.
  5. Add all the spices (coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt) to the pan and mix well.
  6. Add the cleaned and deveined prawns to the pan and mix well with the masala.
  7. Add a little water to the pan and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the prawns are fully cooked and tender.
  8. Once the prawns are cooked, turn off the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
  9. Serve the Kobi Chingudi Masala hot with rice or naan bread.
