Kadhai Paneer is a popular vegetarian dish from North India that is loved by many. It is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese), bell peppers, onions, and a blend of spices that make it spicy and flavorful. This dish is typically served with naan, roti, or rice and is perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner. Here’s how you can make Kadhai Paneer at home:
Ingredients:
- 250 grams of paneer (cottage cheese)
- 1 large green bell pepper (capsicum), diced
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2-3 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala
- 1 tablespoon of kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, for cooking
- Coriander leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes and sauté until they turn soft.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Add diced bell peppers and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add paneer cubes and mix gently.
- Add kasuri methi and salt to taste. Mix well.
- Cover the pan with a lid and let the Kadhai Paneer cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with naan, roti, or rice.
Note: You can adjust the spice level of the dish as per your preference. You can also add a tablespoon of cream or yogurt to the dish to make it creamier. Kadhai Paneer tastes best when served hot and fresh.
