Kadhai Paneer is a popular vegetarian dish from North India that is loved by many. It is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese), bell peppers, onions, and a blend of spices that make it spicy and flavorful. This dish is typically served with naan, roti, or rice and is perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner. Here’s how you can make Kadhai Paneer at home:

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 1 large green bell pepper (capsicum), diced
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2-3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon of kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for cooking
  • Coriander leaves, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and sauté until they turn soft.
  5. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  6. Add diced bell peppers and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add paneer cubes and mix gently.
  8. Add kasuri methi and salt to taste. Mix well.
  9. Cover the pan with a lid and let the Kadhai Paneer cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with naan, roti, or rice.

Note: You can adjust the spice level of the dish as per your preference. You can also add a tablespoon of cream or yogurt to the dish to make it creamier. Kadhai Paneer tastes best when served hot and fresh.
