Here’s how you can make small fish with mustard seeds paste at home:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of small fish (such as sardines or anchovies)
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of tamarind paste
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for cooking
  • Curry leaves, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Clean the small fish by removing the heads, tails, and guts. Rinse them well under running water.
  2. In a small bowl, soak the mustard seeds in warm water for 10-15 minutes.
  3. In a blender, add the soaked mustard seeds, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, tamarind paste, green chilies, turmeric powder, and salt. Blend them into a smooth paste.
  4. Coat the small fish with the mustard seeds paste, making sure they are well coated.
  5. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add the coated small fish and fry them until they turn golden brown on both sides. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove the fried small fish from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  7. Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread

Note: You can adjust the spice level of the dish as per your preference.
